Performance
Engine Options
Ford has made two engine options available for people to choose from. Entry-level trim grades employ a turbocharged 1.5-litre, inline three-cylinder engine making 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. High trims are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that will make up to 250 horsepower. The Jeep Compass only offers a 200-horsepower engine.
Available Hybrid Engine
The 2025 Escape is also available as a hybrid platform. The gas-electric engine will make up to 192 horsepower. When the hybrid engine is working properly, drivers can expect it to achieve the electric equivalent of 5.6 L/100 km in the city and up to 6.5 L/100 km on the highway.
Design
Passenger Space
Both current versions of the Ford Escape and Jeep Compass offer two rows of seats with room for up to five passengers each. However, people riding in the 2025 Escape will have more generous dimensions for front and rear legroom.
Cargo Volume
The ability to haul cargo is every bit as important to SUV owners as passenger space. When the rear of the 2025 Ford Escape is configured correctly, it can offer up to 1,940 litres of cargo volume. The 2025 Compass, on the other hand, tops out at 1,693 litres.
Technology
Advanced Connectivity
Ford and Jeep have equipped their respective compact SUVs with similar levels of connectivity technology. Both vehicles come with wireless access to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto suites. However, Ford Escape owners will get a larger touchscreen interface that is also compatible with Amazon Alexa.
Safety
The safety of passengers is the top priority for both automakers. Ford Escape passengers can use a 360° camera system to enhance situational awareness. The Ford Blind Spot Information System is also broadly available across the Escape lineup.
