Performance
Electric Output
The 2025 F-150 Lightning is available in single- and double-motor configurations, depending on which trim grade is chosen. Versions with one electric motor can produce up to 452 horsepower, and dual-motor trucks can make up to 580 horsepower. The Silverado EV starts at 510 horsepower and does offer models with higher output figures. However, those options are much more expensive.
Towing Capacity
Every pickup truck is evaluated by its towing capacity; EV pickups are no different. The towing capacity offered by the 2025 F-150 Lightning offers up to 4,535 kg of towing capacity when the automaker’s Max Trailer Tow Package is attached. Silverado EV owners do have a slightly higher towing capacity, by just a few hundred kilograms.
Design
Real-Life Usability
It’s easy to get lost in the impressive performance specs offered by the 2025 F-150 Lightning, but it also features several convenient features like a 400-litre front trunk. The lockable forward storage space is also equipped with four power outlets and USB ports for charging devices. Chevrolet has also included a front trunk with the Silverado EV, but it is smaller and lacks the power outlets offered by the F-150 Lightning.
Interior Convenience
Both trucks have room for five passengers spread across two rows of seats. One area where the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning might get more attention than its Chevrolet rival is with the available work area that can be easily folded away.
Technology
Connected Technology
Ford and Chevrolet have each developed some of the most powerful infotainment systems on the market. Each one is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as both suites’ wireless connectivity.
Safety
Both automakers have equipped their electric trucks with the latest safety and driver assistance systems. The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is protected by:
- Lane-Keeping System
- Evasive Steering Assist
- Rear View Camera
- Hill Descent Control
- Blind Spot Information System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Evasive Steering Assist
